About the Project
The international project Erasmus + KA226 e-Courses for English Teachers is implemented by 2 higher education institutions and 2 other institutions from 3 EU countries:
Project coordinator:
- Aspekt Foundation, SK
- Teacher. sk, s.r.o., SK
- University of Ostrava, CZ
- University of Bielsko-Biala, PL
In relation to the horizontal priority of the program Innovative practices in a digital era the project aims to create a number of e-courses within the four modules each of which is devoted to different areas (grammar, teaching methodology, skills, literature and culture). The designed courses would then be creatively combined into tailor-made continuous professional development (CPD) courses to meet teachers´ needs in refreshing their English language competencies online. In this way, the project priority promoting a comprehensive approach to language teaching and learning will improve the quality of English language competencies of teachers and at the same time the quality of their teaching and teaching outputs.
Project Objectives
Continuous professional development (CPD) is a must for all teachers all over the world in order to keep in line with the current requirements of the society. Foreign language teachers, including English teachers are not an exception. Except general CPD courses, however, they need continuous language support not to lose their foreign language skills. That is why designing and developing a set of e-courses may fill in the gap on language course market and having a modular system of such courses will make it possible to tailor-made the courses to the needs of different teachers and enable anybody - willing to attend them – to participate in e-courses from anywhere and anytime. In this way, the project covers an innovative idea and satisfies the vital need of English teachers.
The project partners will focus mainly on the development of four e-modules for training English teachers - whether in initial training or lifelong training. The types of modules have been agreed by consortium members based on their long-term experience with face-to-face provision of English courses. Each of the e-modules will contain several (15 - 30) e-courses based on the most vital topics what teachers usually lack in their pre-service education and school practice.
